
Snow and ice have triggered weather warnings throughout the island of Ireland.
Met Éireann has cautioned about potential travel disruptions on this morning and later into today, as temperatures are expected to drop to between -2C and -4C across numerous regions, leading to sharp or severe frost along with icy patches, reports Breaking News.
A Status Yellow warning for low temperatures and ice has been activated for counties Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.
In Northern Ireland, the UK Met Office has similarly issued yellow warnings for snow and ice, with minimum temperatures reaching -3C on Saturday night, reports Breaking News.
“A number of Northern Ireland Football League matches have been cancelled because of weather conditions including Ballymena United v Glenavon and Portadown v Cliftonville,” reports Breaking News.
