It’s great news, says Minister for Housing who praises 76% rise in commencement notices for new homes

In December, there were 3,167 commencement notices for new homes, up 76% from the same month the previous year, reports Breaking News.

It indicates that there were over 32,000 notices submitted in 2023, which is more than the record-high December data.

The statement was made by Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien on Thursday during Leaders’ Questions in the Dail, reports Breaking News.

Opposition parties criticised Mr. O’Brien for the government’s housing delivery policies.

Pearse Doherty, a finance spokesperson for Sinn Féin, charged that the government was “on the side of vulture funds.”

He added that information about an investment fund owning up to 85% of the units in a housing complex in Balgriffin, County Dublin, was just made public, reports Breaking News.
