We have been monitoring the HSE ONLINE PCR TEST APPOINTMENT SERVICE after we received messages from people who were having difficulty getting PCR tests after Christmas.
We discovered that the HSE seem to be uploading their new appointment slot around 12.30am each day.
For example, On Tuesday 28th December at 7pm there were no next day appointments available online for the Waterford centre.
At approximately 12.30am early Wednesday morning, 175 appointments were made available on the HSE PCR appointment system. These appointments were only for THURSDAY 30th December. This means that on Tuesday, a person would need to wait till THURSDAY just to get a test. We are not sure how long the test result would take to be sent to the patient.
We were alarmed at how quickly the PcR test appointments “sold out”. At approximately 12.30am early Wednesday morning, Waterford had 175 appointments listed for Thursday.
Within 7 minutes, all appointment slots were filled. At 12.40am early Wednesday morning there were ZERO appointments available in Co. Waterford for any day.
If a person in Waterford needs a PCR test they will will be lucky to receive a test appointment within three days. In the middle of a pandemic and Christmas and new year family gatherings, this is a disaster waiting to happen.
