According to a new survey, 40 per cent of large companies in Ireland have seen staff resign following recent changes to their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, reports Breaking News.
The findings come from a survey conducted by Expleo, a global provider of technology, engineering, and consulting services, which collected responses from 200 Irish business and IT leaders.
The study revealed that DEI is a critical issue for companies in Ireland, as they grapple with whether to align with global shifts or maintain their existing approaches, reports Breaking News.
Carried out by Censuswide, the research showed a split in how major Irish enterprises are tackling DEI.
While 49 per cent reported an increased commitment to DEI – and 56 per cent said it is essential to their organisation’s success – 42 per cent believe there is currently too much emphasis on the topic, reports Breaking News.
The mixed approaches are already affecting staff, with 47 per cent of those surveyed acknowledging that employees are concerned about DEI losing significance.

Since November 2024, 40 per cent of companies based in Ireland have either scrapped or plan to scrap their DEI targets altogether. Additionally, among those that use employee pronouns in email signatures, half are now removing them, reports Breaking News.
Nearly half (49 per cent) of firms with operations in the US are also taking out DEI references to avoid potential problems there.
Managing director for Ireland, Expleo, Phil Codd: said: “Committing to DEI is not easy. Shortcomings on targets can be demoralising and subject to board scrutiny. But if we abandon targets, we effectively stop holding ourselves to account, reports Breaking News.
“However, we do have reason to be optimistic. A significant proportion of enterprise leaders said they are increasing their commitment to DEI in Ireland,” reports Breaking News.
“These are the businesses who are going against the grain and making choices that are not only principled, but commercially smart. In doing so, they are positioning themselves as true leaders who are capable of attracting top talent in an employee market where DEI matters more than ever,” reports Breaking News.
“We see first-hand at Expleo, by enriching our workforces, diversity brings tangible value to organisations by widening perspectives and challenging accepted norms,” reports Breaking News.
“It is fundamental to the innovation we bring to our clients and our own revenue growth as a challenger in the IT services space in Ireland. It should be ingrained in the DNA of every organisation. It is time for companies to boldly go forward and embrace DEI at a time when it is under attack,” reports Breaking News.
