It’s official – Donald Trump will take on sleepy Joe Biden once again in November.

Nikki Haley, a Republican and former ambassador to the UN, has halted her White House candidature. She has refused to support former president Donald Trump but has urged him to win over moderates and independents who supported her in the primary.

“It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond it who did not support him and I hope he does that,” Ms Haley said in a televised address in Charleston, South Carolina, reports RTE.

In a two-person race against Mr. Trump to challenge US President Joe Biden in November’s election, Ms. Haley only won one state on Super Tuesday and never really stood in Mr. Trump’s way of winning the nomination.

Before Mr. Trump appointed the 52-year-old as ambassador to the UN in 2017, she was barely known outside of her native South Carolina. She utilised the prominent UN position to develop a reputation as a straightforward conservative.

“I am filled with the gratitude for the outpouring of support we’ve received from all across our great country,” Ms Haley added, reports RTE.

“But the time has now come to suspend my campaign. I said I wanted Americans to have their voices heard – I have done that. I have no regrets,” she said, reports RTE.
