Ivana Bacik has been elected the new leader of the Labour party

She had literally zero competition for the role as she was the candidate put forward to become the next leader of the Labour party.

The relatively newly elected TD Ivana Bacik succeeded Alan Kelly in the role. She is recently most noted for the Labour TD who apologised for attending Katherine Zappone’s party at the Merrion Hotel last year, is said to be the frontrunner to become the new leader of the Labour party.

Last month, Tipperary TD Alan Kelly resigned as leader of the Labour party. He appeared to start crying at one point during his resignation speech with some on social media saying that he should have taken it like a man and that were far worse things happening around the world than Kelly having to resign.

It’s understood that the Labour parliamentary party wanted Bacik to become their new leader for quite some time.
