Katie Taylor was the standout guest on Friday night’s Late Late Show with Patrick Kielty. Fresh from her trilogy win over Amanda Serrano, Ireland’s undisputed lightweight champion looked relaxed and radiant as she reflected on a remarkable year.
At 39, Taylor spoke openly about the discipline that has kept her at the top for over a decade and the pivotal role she played in getting women’s boxing into the Olympics. She also touched on finding balance outside the ring.
For the first time publicly, she confirmed her recent marriage to Sean McCavanagh, a Connecticut real estate broker, and shared how happy and settled she is living quietly in the US with her husband and his five children.
When asked about retirement, she smiled and said she’s still taking it one fight at a time — leaving the door firmly open for more.
A classy, heartfelt appearance from a true Irish legend. If you missed it, the interview is well worth catching on the RTÉ Player.
She said: “Jesus is the greatest of all time, my faith is the foundation of my life”, as she got emotional speaking about her faith and how much God means to her.
What an absolute legend!
