So the Tánaiste spoke, making a direct reference to yesterday’s events in the Dáil, when a row broke out between herself and Sinn Fein’s party members after she linked a well known serial child abuser to the Republican movement.

Sinn Fein refused to allow Dáil business to continue unless Burton withdrew her remarks. Burton referred to the event as ‘an outrageous waste of time.’

Today, the Tánaiste accused Sinn Fein of ‘pulling stunts’, and said that if they were in power, they ‘would walk out on themselves.’

Elsewhere today, Enda Kenny also took a snipe at Sinn Fein by suggesting they would ‘wreck the economy’ if they were to be elected to power. Gerry Adams, undaunted, retorted by saying that Fine Gael have ‘walked from one shambles to another.’
