ánaiste Joan Burton has ruled out the possibility of any power-sharing deal with Sinn Féin after the next general election.

She indeed very emphatically said she could “certainly not” foresee the formation of a coalition with Gerry Adams’ party because of their marked differences on economic policies.

Ms. Burton stated that her party would not engage in the “populism” of Sinn Féin to gain votes.

Popular support for Labour has taken a nose dive as of late, sinking to a measly 5% in some opinion polls.

The Tánaiste refused to be drawn to discuss how many seats the party would retain at the next general election, which would take place in the Spring of 2016, according to her.

The Labour party is expected to retain just a handful of representatives after the next election.
