Job satisfaction: Minority Government TD’s to receive yet another bonus if coalition remains in charge until 2020

Government TD’s could soon be set to receive yet another bonus in the coming months ahead under the confidence and supply agreement.

According to The Irish Sun TD’s could be in line for a minimum €5,000 pay increase this coming autumn if Fianna Fáil continue to support the current Fine Gael led government until 2020.

In a move that will surety infuriate the Irish taxpayer, government ministers could be yet again have their pockets lined provided the current agreement holds up.

It is understood the topic of a substantial pay increase was discussed in the Dáil on Monday arose after Sinn Féin’s David Cullinane questioned the prospect of a pay increase that would see an average TD earning in the region of €98,000 a year.

Although the Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe has claimed the government will waive the right to a pay increase which would also see the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar receiving a pay increase in the region of €20,000 which in turn see him earning in the region of €211,000 per annum.

It is thought opposition TD’s within the Dáil have growing increasingly concerned by the agreement with many arguing it would be unfair on the Irish taxpayer.
