The fallout from the now infamous Jobstown incident, which saw the then Tanaiste Joan Burton become trapped in her car by water protesters for several hours, continues unabated.
A judge has now ruled that the protesters will be tried in separate groups, rather than in one large cohort, as originally requested by the defendants.
Anti-austerity TD Paul Murphy is among 16 people who face charges ranging from false imprisonment, violent disorder and criminal damage.
A 16-year-old teenager has already been jailed in relation to the incident.
