A new poll shows that fewer than one in ten British voters think Brexit has gone well, reports RTE.

However, polls show that the idea of a new referendum is divided and the majority of voters will still vote the same way.

The survey was conducted for Great Britain by the Changing Europe think tank.

Only 9% of respondents think Brexit has gone well, and less than a third think it will ever end well.

However, opinion polls and focus group interviews have shown that this discontent will not automatically translate into a vote to rejoin the EU.

It found that 48% would vote for rejoining, while 32% would vote against, reports RTE.

The rest will either not vote or say they don’t know.

Meanwhile, 72% of Leave voters said they would vote the same way again, with most of them believing Brexit could still go well into the future.

Most respondents expressed fatigue with the discussion and wanted to focus on other issues, such as the economy.

However, a majority supported closer ties with the EU, with 53% in favour.

Voters in favour of leaving the EU also pointed to the benefits of Brexit, such as control over their own laws and the ability to negotiate trade deals with other countries.

However, even among Brexiteers, a majority believe that Brexit has not been a success so far – only 18% of them think it has gone well, reports RTE.

Most of them – 63% – blame politicians for not being able to reach a good deal

Although immigration played an important role in the 2016 referendum, only 25% of all respondents believed that the UK had more control over its borders since leaving the EU.

Only 15% believe legal immigration has fallen and only 8% believe illegal immigration has fallen since Brexit.

But as big as Bregret is, there is little appetite for a second referendum.

The survey follows another recent survey that showed EU officials are also in no mood to reopen Brexit talks, reports RTE.
