Pacteau, 21, has reportedly abandoned the appeal process he had undertaken against his mandatory life sentence and is now set to spend a minimum of 23 years behind bars.
Karen Buckley, 24 at the time of her tragic death, was murdered by Pacteau after meeting him during a night out in Glasgow, where she was studying for a Masters degree. Pacteau then went to great lenghths to attempt to destroy the evidence.
He will now not be released until he is 44 years of age.
