Katie Taylor’s father Pete is reportedly doing fine following Bray boxing club shooting incident

According to reports this morning the father of Irish boxing sensation Katie Taylor, is doing fine following a shooting incident in Bray on Tuesday morning.

The news of Mr Taylor’s condition comes after Gardai confirmed the name of a 50 year old man killed in the incident.

In a brief statement released on Tuesday evening Gardaí confirmed that Robert Messett, was sadly killed after he received a gunshot wound to the head.

It is believed that Mr Taylor and another man were injured in the attack which occurred shortly before 7am on Tuesday morning.

The news of Mr Taylor’s condition was confirmed by boxer Gary Curry who wrote the following on his social media page: “Just spoke to Pete on the phone he’s doing fine that’s all I know can’t get back to everybody messaging me x.”

Meanwhile Gardaí have said an investigation into the incident is currently ongoing and they are still searching for the gunman behind the brutal attack.

It is understood the man entered the premises at approximatley 6:55am and fired off a number of shots.

Gardaí say the gunman fled the scene in a silver Volkswagen Candy which had Northern Irish registration plates.

The van was latee recovered at Pigeon House Road at Ringsend in Dublin.
