Keep the lights on! Leinster House struck with intermittent power outages

Intermittent electricity outages affected proceedings in the Dáil, Seanad, and several Oireachtas committee meetings earlier today, reports RTE.

The power cut occurred in the area surrounding Leinster House shortly after 10am.

Although lights went out in the Dáil chamber, the session continued, aided by natural light streaming in from overhead, reports RTE.

Several committee sessions being held in the basement-level rooms of the nearby LH 2000 office building were paused for approximately ten minutes.

Backup generators within the Leinster House complex were used to restore electricity to the affected buildings.

Despite this, surrounding buildings in the vicinity remained without power, reports RTE.
