Kenny: “I will work with both Fianna Fail and Independent TD’s in order to build a better Ireland”

The newly re-elected Taoiseach Enda Kenny has promised he will work with both Fianna Fail and Independent TD’s in order to build a better Ireland.

Mr Kenny’s comments come after he historically became the first Fine Fael leader to elected Taoiseach for a second term. However Mr Kenny’s re-election was not plain sailing as he faced a nervous wait to regain his throne.

Mr Kenny was forced to negotiate a last minute deal with Roscommon TD Michael Fitzmaurice who was fighting for a relaxation of restrictions on turf cutting which are required under European law. Thankfully Mr Kenny managed to get over his final hurdle and was elected by his colleagues.

Speaking about his historic election Mr Kenny told the Dail: “I commit myself and the incoming Government to work in partnership with the elected Members of this House to devise and implement solutions to the many problems facing our people.”
