Katie Mulrennan is a teacher from Kerry. She’s currently in South Korea on a working/travelling expedition.
When she applied for a teaching job with an agency in Seoul, she got a response which was quite shocking:
“Our client does not accept applications from people from the Republic of Ireland due to the alcoholic nature of your kind.”
The 26-yr-old initially thought it was a joke, but the agency abruptly informed her they were serious.
The teacher has taught in Oxford, Barcelona and Abu Dhabi, and even South Korea before and has never experienced any sort of discrimination before.
