A woman in her 20s was approached by a male on Friar St., Cork, yesterday afternoon. The man produced a bladed weapon and assaulted her, slashing her across the face a number of times.
She was rushed to Cork University Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery for what was described as ‘horrific injuries.’
Gardai believe that she was deliberately targeted, and that the weapon used was a Stanley knife.
