Labour Senator “trapped” in his vehicle by protestors

Senator Denis Landy told of his harrowing tale of being cornered and trapped inside his car by enraged protestors outside the gates of Leinster House on Saturday.

According to Mr. Landy, himself and a member of his staff spent 20 menacing minutes trapped inside their car while protestors hurled abuse and missiles at the vehicle.

Speaking about the ordeal, he said ‘It was extremely unpleasant to be surrounded by people firing implements at your car.
“This is our national parliament and we should be allowed to come and go in a democracy without being subject to that type of abuse.”

It is understood that neither the Senator nor the staff members sustained any injuries.
