Labour’s Ivana Bacik wants you to vote yes in upcoming referendums

Labour’s family and care referendum campaign has officially begun, and according to party head Ivana Bacik, the party is pushing for a yes-yes result, reports RTE.

Bacik stated that her party thinks the proposed constitutional amendments reflect “a more equal and more inclusive society” in an interview with reporters during the campaign’s launch in Dublin’s city centre.

She said: “We did express some disappointment initially at the wording, but we did tease out the wording with Government representatives in the Dáil and Seanad debates,” reports RTE.

“We’re satisfied that the two referendums do represent a real step forward towards a more contemporary text, towards a fair Ireland and towards a more equal and more inclusive society,” reports RTE.

Senator Marie Sherlock, Labour’s director of elections for the referendums, accompanied Ms. Bacik at the opening of her campaign, reports RTE.
