A landslide in Guatemala has killed at least 29 people and left up to 600 missing. A hillside collapsed onto the town of Santa Catarina Pinula burying more than 100 homes.

Hundreds of rescue workers are at the scene trying to clear the rubble to search for survivors. A makeshift morgue has been set up. Three babies are among the dead. 150 families lived in the area when the landslide happened.

Melina Hidalgo, 35, was washing clothes when the landslide struck. “I feel like I’ve lost my loved ones because all my neighbours died,” she said.

Marta Guitz arrived home to find her home buried with her soon still inside.”My husband is there now, shovelling through soil to find our son,” the 37-year-old said.
