According to latest figures the number of people arrested for drink driving offences has risen by 34% in the month of December.
The Gardaí say 738 people in total have been arrested since December 1st, which marks an increase of 34% since last year.
The news comes after there were 14 arrests made on Christmas day for drink drive offences.
