The attacker behind the wheel of the lorry that horrifically ploughed through a crowd of innocent people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice on Thursday night, has been confirmed as terrorist with links to radical Islam.

The man named Mohamed Laouaij Bouhlel, a Tunisian living in France, was also not known to French intelligence services prosecutors have revealed.

According to leading Prosecutor Francois Molins, Bouhlel who orchestrated the deadly and sickening attack that killed 84 people and injured 200, was known to police and judicial authorities for matters of threats, violence, theft and damages committed between 2010 and 2016.

Mr Bouhlel was also convicted on March 24th in Nice criminal court and handed a six-month suspended sentence for violence with a weapon committed in January.

Mr Molins told reporters: “He was on the other hand totally unknown to intelligence services … and was never placed on a watch list for radicalisation”.
