Leading homeless charities set up special project calling on the public to donate their water charges refund

The country’s three leading homeless charities have issued an appeal to the public to donate their water charges refund in order to help the homeless this Christmas.

In a nationwide appeal the three charities have decided to form a special group called the refund project which will use the funds to help those sleeping rough on the streets.

The new project which will be chaired by the former chief of Workplace Relations Comission Kirean Mulvey.

Although the group are aware that not everyone will be able to make a contribution, they are hoping those who paid their charges in the past will use their upcoming refund for a good cause.

It is expected almost 1 million people will receive a refund in the coming weeks ahead, which will cost the state €171m.

All groups say anyone wishing to make a donation can do so at refundproject.ie
