There could soon be free GP care for all after a detailed outing the future of country’s healthcare system was leaked this morning.
According to the report published by the Oireachtas Committee on the Future of Healthcare, the state will see free GP service within the next five years.
The report also outlines plans that will see A&E waiting times being significantly reduced, with hospitals to receive fines if patients are forced to wait longer than 12 hours.
The Department of Health also want to reduce waiting times for routine surgery’s with waiting times cut to longer than 12 weeks.
It is expected the report which will outline plans for the best part of the next decade will be published next month.
