Dr Rachel Levine, a transgender man and long time gay rights activist has narrowly been elected to become the first transgender man to be elected to a Federal Government position by a US Senate.
The 52-48 vote saw all Democrat Senators vote for Dr Levine and two Republicans vote for the doctors appointment, according to GayTimes.
The two Republican senators who broke ranks with Republican Party, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski are being criticised for voting for Dr Levine who previously defended subjecting children to chemical castration reports PJmedia.
Levine, who has not revealed whether or not he underwent transgender hormone “treatments” or surgery to confirm his female identity, has given lectures on how to perform sex changes on children since at least 2012, The National Pulse reported.”
