The President of UCD Student Union, Katie Ascough has come under attack from some students at the University recently after her decision to remove information in the college magazine “Winging It” regarding abortion providers and acquiring abortion pills online.
President Ascough made the decision after consultation with UCD lawyers who advised her that providing this information was in breach of the 1995 Abortion Information Act.
This fell on deaf ears as a petition was established by abortion activists in the University to impeach Ascough.
A petition has been signed by many students on campus, but many others claim Ascough was fully entitled to remove the illegal information and are standing with their S.U. President.
Students are voting today on the President’s future but either way, many believe that this is pure bullying of the highest form by not allowing Ascough have her pro life beliefs.
