Two words: Not fair.

Everyone’s favourite action star Sylvester Stallone was favourite to finally take home an Oscar last night for best supporting role in Creed, but alas it wasn’t to be.

In a surprise result, the statuette went to Mark Rylance for Bridge of Spies instead.

He was nominated for best actor in 1977 for Rocky, but this year really was the year Hollywood was said to finally tip its showbiz hat to the celebrated actor.

Stallone’s smiled and clapped at the result, but his wife was stone faced and couldn’t hide her emotions.

There’s always next year, but still, at least the 69-year-old actor won a Golden Globe for the role in January, his first ever, and a standing ovation from the crowd.
