“Leo, Leo, Leo, out, out, out” – Crowds gather on O’Connell Street to highlight Government’s disastrous handling of migrant situation

A group of anti-refugee protesters blocked traffic on O’Connell Street in Dublin this afternoon.

Images of the group standing in the middle of the street in front of the General Post Office (GPO) emerged on social media, reports the Independent.

O’Connell Street is one of the busiest public transit routes in the capital, connecting the north and south sides of the city with Luas tracks in both directions.

Some of the protesters wore high-visibility vests and carried Irish flags, while others carried “close the borders” signs, reports Independent.

Meanwhile, others carried messages denouncing the government’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Some protesters could be heard chanting against Taoiseach Leo Varadkar: “Leo, Leo, Leo, out, out, out,” reports the Independent.
