While it is cold and blustery in most of the country at the moment, folk in Co. Donegal are seeing the first wintry snow showers today.

The Rossnowlagh and Ballintra areas are experiencing the worst of it, though Fermanagh and parts of Sligo are also reportedly having snow showers.

According to Met Eireann, “heavy blustery showers (some with hail and thunder) will continue for the rest of the day, with the showers tending to be more frequent over the western half of the country.”

“A cold day with highest temperatures of 7C to 9C in strong and gusty westerly winds.”

Tomorrow, Saturday, is expected to bring about heavy rains for most of the day.
