MUST WATCH VIDEO: Disgraceful footage shows burly Garda horrifically beat an elderly man at a property dispute in Wexford

In scenes reminiscent of the B-Specials, horrific footage has emerged of a well-built garda taking out his baton and smashing down into an old man during a major property dispute at an auction yesterday afternoon in Gorey, Wexford.

There were tense scenes in Gorey as a range of community members and activists from Wexford, Wicklow and Dublin took part in a protest against the auction of NAMA properties.

A member of An Garda Siochána is seen in the footage, filmed by journalist John Rooney as he attempts to arrest one of the protesters to the property auction being held.

The man refuses to give his name on the basis that he hasn’t been properly quoted a charge. A lot of pushing and shoving starts and the camera pans around the room.

The footage then moves back to a Garda as he “loses control”, as one onlooker said, and takes out his baton and violently smashes down into an elderly man’s head.
A Garda spokesman said:
“We are aware of an incident that took place yesterday in Gorey, County Wexford. Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s in relation to a public order incident. He was released yesterday evening and file is being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

We don’t comment on videos posted on social media by third parties, but if someone has a complaint to make to the Garda Ombudsman Commission they are free to do so.”
