A spokesperson for German retailer Lidl has confirmed that the planned construction of a larger store in South Dublin is now ‘under review’, in the wake of last Friday’s attack by a gang of looters at Fortunestown.

The current store was badly damaged when a gang of thugs comandeered a JCB to go on a rampage.

Engineers are now assessing the damaged structure to determine a course of action.
