According to an investigation, a mother died after being struck by lightning in an “unusual and desperately sad case,” reports Mirror.

Daniella DiMambro was on vacation with her children in Croatia when the tragedy occurred.

It is said that a strange lightning entered her right ear.

According to Mirror, it caused catastrophic injuries and Ms. DiMambro went into “out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.”

A bystander desperately tried to perform CPR, but the 48-year-old woman was still suffering from hypoxic brain injuries.

She was rushed to an intensive care unit at the hospital and later repatriated to the UK.

Ms. DiMambro’s prognosis by doctors was described as “poor” and she was in hospice care at the end of her life.

The 48-year-old woman from Mansfield Road, Nottingham was reportedly on a beach near Split with her daughter when lightning struck.

“The lightning strike is thought to have entered through the right ear,” said Mairin Casey, speaking at an inquest at Nottingham Council House, reports Mirror.

Ms. DiMambro’s primary cause of death was hypoxic ischemic brain injury, followed by cardiac arrest, then “lightning strike” and urinary tract infection.

According to Mirror, Ms Casey added: “It seems to be so unusual, the appropriate conclusion is narrative. I find she was struck by lightning on August 20, 2022. This caused injuries which ultimately led to her death in the UK on October 7. Her death was due to a lightning strike, leading to cardiac arrest and hypoxic ischemic brain injury.”

In memory of Mrs. DiMambro, a JustGiving page was created, which raises funds for The Brain Charity.
