Police marksmen were forced to shoot a lioness dead after the animal managed to escape from its enclosure at a zoo in Belgium.
The incident happened at Planckendael Zoo, which is located about 30km north of Brussels, earlier today.
Veterinary officials attempted twice to sedate the animal, but were unable to. The zoo was evacuated, and the decision was taken to kill the lioness.
