A young man is in “critical condition” after being hit by a car in Waterford on Friday night, reports The Mirror.

The collision is believed to have occurred on private property in Dungarvan and involved only one vehicle.

Gardaí and emergency services arrived earlier this evening and the baby was transported by paramedics to meet an ambulance.

Part of the Youghal bypass has been temporarily closed to facilitate an ambulance landing. Upon arrival, the baby was taken by helicopter to Cork University Hospital, reports The Mirror.

The little boy arrived early today at CUH where he remains in “critical condition”.

The Gardaí said an investigation was ongoing.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances of a road traffic incident that was reported this afternoon, Friday 21st July 2023 on private property in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. An infant boy appears to have been involved in a collision with a vehicle. The boy was transferred by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. An Garda Síochána has no further information at this time,” reports The Mirror.
