Longford residents can walk around proud today, as their town has been named Ireland’s cleanest.
Longford was in competition with Drogheda, Dungarvan, Dún Laoghaire and Kilkenny, eventually topping the contest, with Dun Laoghaire ending up in second place.
According to the results, the surveyed locations in Longford were “not just clear of litter, but many were also “superbly presented and maintained.”
It is understood an sculpture will be erected in the town in the near future to highlight Longford’s success in the competition.
