According to a local, some people in Joe Biden’s native county of Co Louth are “sad to see him go” as US president, reports Breaking News. Others are delighted to see the back of him.

Mr. Biden has travelled to Ireland several times in recent years and has often expressed pleasure in his Irish heritage.

Jenkinstown, County Louth, Fitzpatrick’s Bar restaurant manager Rebecca Birch said residents are hoping to welcome back the 81-year-old after he declared he will not be running for president again, reports Breaking News.

In 2016, Mr Biden made a detour at the pub while travelling with his family to the Cooley Peninsula to research their heritage.

Local resident Ms Birch claimed she was 16 years old when the US vice president paid a visit to the tavern.

Before he arrived, she added, there was a “great atmosphere.”

Ms Birch said: “I was with my mam and dad. It was a lovely sunny day, people had been talking about it for weeks. There was a lot of buzz in the area at the time. I’d never seen anything like it, the presidential cars coming in. It was crazy, there were so many people about. It was just a really exciting time to have him here,” reports Breaking News.
