LoveBoth hold huge rally in Dublin’s Merrion Sq to defend the 8th Amendment and urging people to vote No

Thousands of people from across Ireland attended a rally today in Merrion Square, Dublin.

Love Both Vote No Spokeswoman Cora Sherlock addressed the crowd and said that the Government will unveil a GP-led abortion service that will lead to unrestricted access to abortion – abortion on demand.

Ms Sherlock said: “Genuine healthcare is about saving lives not ending them.”

She continued to say that in two weeks time the referendum would be over and that it was “unthinkable” that after that what she described as “abortion on demand could be a reality.”

Mary Kenny, who is a young mother and who had experienced a crisis pregnancy but decided to keep her baby, spoke about the beautiful life her child has now.

Mary Kenny told the crowd that 100,000 people were alive today because of the Eighth Amendment.

20-yr-old student Gavin Boyle told the crowd that he was one of those lives that had been saved by the Eighth Amendment and said that the yes campaign’s portrayal of the Eighth Amendment as a “failed experiment” was hurtful to people like him.

The enthusiastic rally saw crowds cheer at the prospect of winning by voting No on May 25th.
