The company operating the trams, Transdev, tabled a 13% pay rise over three years last week. Drivers will be balloted on the offer today, which amounts to 5% less of what they were offered the last time.
The proposal includes a one-off €750 bonus at the end of the year, with €500 of this tax-free. Crucially, new drivers would start on reduced pay, a clause which has been strongly criticised by SIPTU.
If the offer is rejected, further strike action for this Thursday and Friday, and beyond, is likely.
