A woman avoided a disaster this morning after her car entered the water in Carlingford, Co. Louth.
The traumatic event occurred at the pier slipway beside St John’s Castle on the main Carlingford to Newry road at 9.30am today.
The woman is believed to be from nearby Warrenpoint, and was able to escape the car when it started to slip into the water on the slipway.
Emergency services were at the scene and the woman was taken to hospital but is said to be uninjured.
It was a sad reminder of the tragedy that occurred earlier this year in Buncrana.
