Major vaccine concerns: AstraZeneca vaccine should not be administered to people over 65, according to medical authorities in Germany

Medical authorities in Germany have issued advice that the AstraZeneca vaccine should not be administered to people over 65.

It is understood that a German health committee has determined that the vaccine might not be effective enough to justify it being given to the elderly. The committee has cited no safety concerns.

Germany’s decision contrasts with that of the UK, where the same vaccine has been given to the older age group.
