Making A Statement by Ripping Up His Irish Water Statement: Paul Murphy TD and the Anti-Austerity Alliance-People Before Profit party encourage the Irish public to boycott Irish Water

There were scenes of rebellion outside of Irish Water headquarters today as members of Anti-Austerity Alliance-People Before Profit (AAA-PBP) showed further protests against the state utility by ripping up their Irish Water bills..

The protest which was fronted by party leader Paul Murphy and fellow AAA-PBP election candidates Bríd Smith, Michael O’Brien and John Lyons outlined the parties intentions against the company. Mr Murphy said he tore up his bill that he received three months ago, because he never registered for the unjust charges.

Mr Murphy also encouraged the Irish public to continue boycotting the utility. Mr Murphy said: “Irish Water and the introduction of water charges has been a disaster for the government.” “Irish Water is a loss-making entity. It is not financially viable because of the massive success of the campaign of opposition. The charge and the company should be abolished.”

Meanwhile Ms Smith added: “The establishment, the government and the media have tried to write off the anti-water charges movement time and time again but each time a national protest has been called people have responded in their tens of thousands.”

The parties latest protest comes ahead of another Right2Water campaign which is due to be held throughout the country this Saturday.
