Professor Philip Nolan has revealed that Ireland’s Covid-19 Reproductive number now stands between 0.4 and 0.7.
Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing Professor Nolan said that Ireland’s R number has improved in the last number of weeks which is down to the efforts of the public.
Nolan said that if the current trajectory of cases numbers remains the same thr country could see between 200 and 400 cases per day.
Although professor Nolan warned that those numbers were still high he did say it would put us back at a level similar to that at the beginning of December.
He added that if the current rate if transmission holds it could have a positive impact in terms of the number of cases in hospitals.
