“Mammy loves you” – Heartbreaking message from cervical cancer patient Lynsey Bennett as she settles her legal case and “fights to stay alive”

In what can only be described as truly heartbreaking, a 32-yr-old Longford woman has bravely fought and settled her legal case against the HSE over the reading of her cervical smear tests.

Speaking today outside the High Court, Lynsey Bennett said she would now “focus on my own fight to stay alive as long as I can”.

RTE reports that the mother-of-two daughters settled her case before it was due to start at the High Court today via mediation.

Ms Bennett had four smear tests between 2010 and 2016, but tragically every time she was told they were negative. In 2016, she was told that there was no abnormalities and to have a return smear test in 2019.

In January 2017 she was diagnosed with advanced cervical cancer, requiring a hysterectomy immediately. Tragically the cancer returned in 2018 and the woman is in a seriously ill condition.

Many people on social media are saying that the HSE and government should be absolutely ashamed of themselves yet again.
