
A 29-yr-old man who is accused of killing his father in County Dublin has shown up in court, reports RTE.
This afternoon, Stephane Benz, who resides in Malahide’s Gainsborough Lawns, was hauled before a special session of the Dublin District Court.
He was taken into custody after Urz Benz was fatally assaulted at a Gainsborough Lawns home yesterday morning at about 8.30 a.m.
After a major attack that was thought to be a stabbing, the 62-year-old was discovered unconscious, reports RTE.
At the scene, he was later declared dead.
Detective Garda Evidence of arrest, charge, and caution was provided by Alan Roche of the Malahide Garda Station, reports RTE.
He informed the court that when the accused was charged with murder at Coolock Garda Station this morning, he did not respond.
Due to the nature of the charge, no bail application was made.
Mr. Benz was remanded in jail by Judge Máire Conneely to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday of next week, reports RTE.
Additionally, the judge allowed defence attorney Michael O’Connor’s request that his client be evaluated psychiatrically.
During the brief court hearing, Mr. Benz remained silent, reports RTE.
