
A man in his 30s who is accused of dragging his 82 year old A grandmother who was charged with assault causing hurt appeared in court after falling headfirst down the stairs at her house two days before to her death, reports Breaking News.
At a Cork District Court hearing on Thursday, 38-year-old Brian Nnamdi Ogbo was accused of assaulting and injuring Nigerian lady Stella Nnamdi.
The alleged attack took place at Garrydhu Drive, Kilmoney Road, Carrigaline, County Cork, on February 23rd last year, reports Breaking News.
Mr. Nnamdi Ogbo, who had travelled from Nigeria to the nation late last year, was residing on the property when the alleged incident took place.
Det Garda Tom Delaney provided evidence of arrest, charge, and caution.
When the charge was presented to Mr. Nnamdi Ogbo under caution yesterday at 10.26 p.m. at Togher Garda Station, Det Garda Delaney stated that he did not respond, reports Breaking News.
Because of the nature of the crime, the gardai objected to bail. Ruby Nnamdi, the accused’s mother, contacted 999 on Sunday, according to Det Garda Delaney.
She said that she was being attacked by her son, Brian. Additionally, it is stated that during the domestic conflict, Mr. Nnamdi Ogbo brandished a knife.
According to Det Garda Delaney, Mr. Nnamdi Ogbo is accused of dragging his grandmother by the head down the stairs. On Sunday, neither Ruby nor Stella Nnadi needed to be admitted to the hospital, reports Breaking News.
However, Dt Garda Delaney said the condition of Stella Nnadi Ogbo However, according to Dt Garda Delaney, Stella Nnadi Ogbo passed away in the hospital on Tuesday when her condition worsened. Later that day, Mr. Nnamdi Ogbo was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
Dt Garda Delaney stated that because of the gravity of the charge, there was a protest against the granting of bail in this case, reports Breaking News.
He said that during a garda questioning, Mr. Nnamdi Ogbo was “caught red handed” and “corroborated the facts alleged.”
Additionally, Det Garda Delaney said that Mr. Nnamdi Ogbo posed a flight risk.
“He came to Ireland to seek international protection but there is no record of visa or travel documents,” reports Breaking News.
“The accused had no connection to the jurisdiction,” he said. He also discussed the seriousness of the charges.
“An 82 year old woman was dragged down the stairs. (In (the course of the interview) he said she could do something like this again. There is a significant risk to family members,” reports Breaking News.
