Man (40s) who died following assault outside home in Co Cork gets named locally

GardaĆ have launched an investigation into a deadly assault that claimed the life of a 44-yr-old man, who was hit with a blunt object outside his residence in north Cork.

His body was discovered at Rockview Terrace in Doneraile, near Mallow, reports RTE.

The man has been identified locally as Barry Daly.

GardaĆ have confirmed they are examining all aspects surrounding the incident, reports RTE.

The pathway and the home at Rockview Terrace, located on the edge of Doneraile village, remain sealed off after the fatal attack, which resulted in the death of a local father of four.

Dr Margot Bolster, the Assistant State Pathologist, has arrived at the scene where the body remained overnight, reports RTE.

A senior officer has been appointed to oversee the case, and an incident room is now operational at Mallow Garda Station.

Additionally, a Garda family liaison officer is offering assistance to the victim’s relatives, reports RTE.

Specialists from the Garda Technical Bureau are also present at the scene.

Another area has been cordoned off within the grounds of Doneraile House, reports RTE.

Investigators are exploring a theory that the man may have been attacked fatally following an earlier dispute involving two individuals in the village.

GardaĆ are requesting eyewitnesses to come forward and are also looking for any video evidence, such as dashcam footage, captured between midnight and 2am in the Doneraile area, reports RTE.

Anyone who has details is encouraged to get in touch with Mallow Garda Station at 022 31 450, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any other Garda station, reports RTE.
