
A teenager has lost his life after a single-vehicle crash occurred in Newmarket, Co Cork, on Saturday night.
The incident took place at Scarteen Lower shortly after 11:20 p.m., when the car veered off the road and hit a ditch, reports Breaking News.
The driver, a male in his late teens, sustained fatal injuries.
A teenage male passenger in the vehicle was not harmed, reports Breaking News.
The driver’s body has been taken from the scene to Cork University Hospital’s mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted at a later time.
A comprehensive forensic investigation will be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI). The road remains closed, and diversions are currently in place, reports Breaking News.
Gardaà in Mallow are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time of the crash to come forward.
They are also asking motorists with camera footage, including dashcams, from that stretch of road during the relevant time frame to share it with investigators, reports Breaking News.
