A man accused of driving into crowds during Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade now faces 24 further charges, including two concerning alleged infant victims, reports Breaking News.

Paul Doyle (53) became emotional during his appearance via videolink from prison for a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday.

He had initially been charged with seven offences following the incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre shortly after 6pm on Monday, May 26th, reports Breaking News.

The court heard on Thursday that six of the new charges involve children, including two infants—one aged six months and the other seven months at the time of the event.

Doyle, dressed in a grey T-shirt, did not respond to any of the charges during the 20-minute hearing, reports Breaking News.

He appeared overcome with emotion and struggled to speak through tears as he confirmed his name at the beginning of the session.

Judge Andrew Menary KC, the Recorder of Liverpool, postponed the case until September 4th, at which point Doyle is expected to enter pleas.

Several family members of the victims and over 20 journalists were present in the courtroom, reports Breaking News.

Merseyside Police stated that 134 individuals were injured when Doyle allegedly drove his Ford Galaxy Titanium into people departing the waterfront area following the parade.

Though the full new indictment was not read aloud in court, it now includes 31 charges related to 29 individuals ranging in age from six months to 77 years, reports Breaking News.

Doyle, who resides in Croxteth, Liverpool, faces 19 counts of attempted grievous bodily harm, seven counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, three counts of wounding with intent, along with one charge each of dangerous driving and affray.

A tentative trial date had been set earlier this year for November 24th, with proceedings expected to run for three to four weeks, reports Breaking News.
