Man, accused of sexually assaulting two young girls, gets assaulted in the dock during sentence hearing in ‘serious breach of security’

At the Criminal Courts of Justice, the sentencing of a Dublin man for the sexual abuse of two young children was suspended following an assault on the accused in the dock resulting in a “serious breach of security,” reports RTE.

While the evidence was being heard, two guys approached the accused man in the dock, and a fight broke out.

Prison officials and gardaí escorted the guys out of the courtroom as they were restrained, reports RTE.

After the incident, the accused man was transported to the hospital while still bleeding.

It happened as the prosecuting garda was testifying about the two girls’ assault.

Mr. Justice Paul Burns declared that the incidents constituted “a serious breach of security” and that the Courts Service would need to look into what went down, reports RTE.
